Remaking a necklace

Today I decided I wanted to make a necklace or two. I made one brand new one by taking a new approach – starting to make the wrapping for the stone without knowing which stone it was going to end up with, and just looking to see which fit best at the end. I ended up choosing a lapis lazuli stone which I hadn’t used yet – however I can always remake it if I have a better design later.

Then I decided to remake my rainbow moonstone wrapped gemstone so that it looked less clumpy, as I am now more well-versed than when I started at macramé. I took my time and used my new techniques.

Here is the comparison photo and results:

New version:

As you can see, the wrapping around the stone is more open, and you can see the stone around the edges. I made the cord slightly shorter so that it would sit nicely just below the collarbone. Overall, I am much happier with how it looks now, as I think it does this beautiful stone more justice.

After all, just look at it…

Remember, its definitely ok to have a do-over and redo something for the better – even if you spent ages doing it in the first place. It’s a good sign that you are flexible and open to new ideas and improvements.
